Late Registration Policy: If availability allows, and we accept registration after the deadline, a $5 late fee will apply to programs and a $20 late fee will apply to all leagues.

SCARECROW CONTEST

Judging will take place October 19th-23rd

Join your neighbors for this fun community challenge and build your own scarecrow! Make yours scary or funny, silly or ridiculous, this is your chance to express yourself. The contest is open to Sedalia residents and businesses but you must register in order to compete!

Rules:

  • Must be a Sedalia Resident or Business/Organization
  • This is a family friendly contest. Bloody or violent themes are not allowed, nor are advertising, political or religious statements. Sedalia Parks and Recreation has the right to disqualify any entry.
  • Scarecrows must be hand-made. Display needs to be able to handle the weather. Feel free to use props like straw bales, corn stalks, etc. Power for moving parts is allowed.
  • Voting will be done October 19-23rd with by a panel of judges
  • All scarecrows will be featured on our Facebook page
  • Winners will be notified by October 25th
    • 1st place: $100 gift card to local business and 1st place winner yard sign
    • 2nd:  $75 gift card to local business and 2nd place winner yard sign
    • 3rd: $50 gift card to local business and 3rd place winner yard sign

***VENDORS*** $50 per space; $10 extra if electric needed. Booth priority will be given to those with homemade items. Booths will be assigned and given to vendors no later than November 18th, 2021. Booth spaces are 8ftx8ft. One 8ft table and two chairs will be provided. Vendors must commit to both days and be present the entire time period. Set up will be on November 19th if needed. A $10 item donation is requested for a door prize. Applications are due back November 8th, 2021 or until booth spaces are filled.

LIBERTY LAND TRAIN AT MOORE'S TRAIN HOUSE

Moore’s Train House is closed for the season. We will resume hours in 2022.

The Liberty Land Train at Moore’s Train House is back up and running! The train will run Saturday and Sundays through Labor Day this year! See hours listed below! Wristbands may be purchased the day of for $2 for a day full of train rides! All passengers riding the train must purchase a wristband.

COMMUNITY GARDEN

Our new community garden is a free garden open to the public.  Take what you need; give back by volunteering.

Respect all living things and always walk on the paths.  Please leave the garden cleaner than you found it.  No pets, alcohol, glass, or smoking allowed.

Harvest times will vary; look for the “I’m ready!” signs.  These signs will indicate the crop is ready for picking.

Please ask permission before adding to the garden.  To volunteer, please call 660 826-4930.

FISHING

 

In cooperation with the Missouri Department of Conservation, we are able to provide fishing opportunities at Liberty and Clover Dell Parks.  The MDC stocks the lake with fish in the spring and summer months.  Fishing rules and regulations are set by the Missouri Department  of Conservation.  If you need to get a fishing license, or have other questions, please call the MDC at (660) 530-5500 or visit their office located at 2000 S Limit Avenue, Sedalia.

TINY TOTS PLAY PARK

Tiny Tots Play Park will not be held Fall 2021.  We will reevaluate at a later time to see if this activity can be held.  If there any updates for the 2021-22 season, we will post them here.
