Mission Statement

Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department to offer an optimum number of recreation and leisure programs to our citizens.  Our goal is to provide facilities for the enjoyment of recreation and leisure through programs which are made available to the public.

The Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department oversees over 300 acres of park land and maintains 7 parks: Liberty, Centennial, Clover Dell, Hubbard, Housel, Katy, and Vermont Parks.  A wide array of sports, recreation activities, lessons and special events are available for citizens of all ages. Open space, parks, and trails provide opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of Sedalia.

The Parks & Recreation office is located at the Heckart Community Center; 1800 W. 3rd St., Sedalia, MO  65301.  The Parks & Recreation Office telephone number is (660) 826-4930.

Monday – Friday: 5am-9pm
Saturday: 7am-7pm
Sunday: 10am-7pm

The Heckart Community Center will be closed on the following holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The Heckart Community Center may have modified hours of operation for other observed holidays. In addition, the Heckart Community Center may have modified hours of operation in cases of inclement weather and/or modified hours for maintenance, up to and including facility closure.

Park Board meetings are held at the Heckart Community Center.

Saturday, 7am-7pm
Sunday, 10am-7pm

The Heckart Community Center will be closed or will have modified hours on the following days:
New Year’s Day: 7am-9pm
Easter: CLOSED
Memorial Day: 7am-4pm
4th of July: 7am-4pm
Labor Day: 7am-4pm
Thanksgiving Eve: 5am-7pm
Thanksgiving Day: CLOSED
Black Friday: 7am-7pm
Christmas Eve: 10am-2pm
Christmas Day: CLOSED
New Year Eve: 7am-9pm
Some holiday fitness classes, aquatics classes, and Child Watch will not be available. Give us a call at 660-826-4930 or watch our Facebook page for holiday updates.
