Session I – Swim Lessons

An event every week that begins at 6:15pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, repeating until June 21, 2018

Lessons are $35 per person each session
Classes are 9:15am, 10:15am, & 6:15 pm, 7:15pm at Liberty Pool

Classes are 30 min. for Water Babies, Pre-school Swim, Level 1.
Classes are 45 minutes for Levels 2-6
Suggested Ages: 6 months – 2 years
What they will learn: Adjusting to water, blowing bubbles, moving arms and kicking feet with parental help. Will work on balance and coordination. May attempt to go underwater. NO water wings. Parents are required to get in the water with the child.
PRESCHOOL SWIM ACADEMY
Suggested Ages: 3 – 5 years
Swimmers will get used to being in the water and floating with assistance, going underwater to retrieve objects, and bubble blowing (controlled breathing). Begin learning arm and leg actions with assistance and exploring the pool to become comfortable in the water. Parents are required to get in the water with the child.
LEVEL 1 – INTRO TO WATER SKILLS
Suggested Ages: 4 – 6 years
Swimmers will become oriented to the aquatic environment. Fully submerge face in water (3 seconds), bobbing (10 times), floating on back/front with assistance, bubble blowing (controlled breathing), enter/exit water by themselves using the ladder or wall. Moving through the water comfortably, kicking on front/back with assistance, introducing alternating arm action, and familiarize with getting help.
LEVEL 2 – FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS
Suggested Ages: 5 – 7 years
Swimmers will be able to fully submerge head, retrieve objects in chest deep water. Become comfortable in deep water with support or assistance, front/back floating with no assistance, turning over front to back, back to front. Front/back glides with no assistance, recovering from floats and glides. Leveling off from a vertical position. Rhythmic breathing (10 bobs), step-in entry and side exit, flutter kick on front/back, back crawl arm action, and combined stroke front/back using arm/leg action.
LEVEL 3 – STROKE DEVELOPMENT
Suggested Ages: 8 – 10 years
Retrieving objects with eyes open with no support. Bobbing and submerging head completely underwater, jumping into deep water from side of pool. Kneeling dive and compact dive from side of pool, front/back glide with push off (2 body lengths). Coordinate arm stroke for crawl with breathing to side, coordinate back crawl, elementary back stroke (10 yards), reverse swimming on front/back, tread water, H.E.L.P position (1 min.), huddle position in groups of 3 (1 min.).
LEVEL 4 – STROKE IMPROVEMENT
Suggested Ages: 10 – 12 years
Deep water bobbing, rotary breathing, stride dive from side of pool from standing position, elementary backstroke (10 yards), sculling on back (5 yards), front/back crawl (25 yards), basics of breaststroke and sidestroke (10 yards each), turning at the wall, treading water with modified scissors or rotary kicks.
LEVEL 5 – STROKE REFINEMENT
Suggested Ages: 12 – 15 years
Alternate breathing, stride jump entry, beginning diving progression, long shallow dive, breaststroke (10 yards) sidestroke (10 yards), underwater swimming (3 body lengths), elementary backstroke (15 yards), butterfly dolphin kick (10 yards), front/back crawl (50 yards), open turn front/back, feet first surface dive, tread water (2 minutes, 2 different strokes).
